Note: You must register in advance for this ride- registration closes at noon on Friday before the ride. There is no late registration or day-of-event registration. You must be a member of both PCH Randonneurs and RUSA in order to register.
Description: This ride will take you up two of the best cycling roads in Southern California- Glendora Mountain Road and Glendora Ridge Road. These roads feature very little car traffic, terrific views, and steady 5-6% gradients. (On Holiday weekends they often close these roads to cars- so if we are lucky, there will be no traffic.) There will be a control in Baldy Village- food and water are available at Baldy Lodge. After enjoying a snack, you will fly down Mt. Baldy Road to Upland, then do a little loop in the neighborhoods of Upland and Fontana. The control in Fontana has many lunch options. The return will be mostly along Baseline Road (Route 66), plus the usual cycling routes across the San Gabriel Valley.
This ride is a challenging ride with 8000 feet of climbing. But as long as the weather is not too hot, the climbs are pleasant and scenic.
This ride will be unsupported. Riders will need to obtain their own food and water along the route.
