Note:  You must register in advance for this brevet, there is no day-of-event registration..  Registration closes at noon on Friday before the ride.

This brevet goes up two of the very finest cycling roads in SoCal- Glendora Mountain Road and Glendora Ridge Road.  In the spring these roads are exceptionally beautiful with wildflowers dotting the hillsides, and the views are amazing.  There is a tad over 8000 feet of climbing on this ride, but almost none of it is steep.  A great ride to help build your fitness for longer brevets coming up.

The brevet starts in La Canada Flintridge, works it's way over to GMR using the usual route along the base of the foothills.  You will climb up GMR, which holds a steady 5-6% for the entire 8 mile climb up to the junction with Glendora Ridge Road.  You might very well see more cyclists than cars on this road.  At the fork you will bear right to follow the ups and downs (mostly ups in the east-bound direction) of the Ridge Road to Mt Baldy Village, where you can replenish food and water at a staffed control.  After recovering a bit at the control you will be ready for the white-knuckle descent to Upland on Mt. Baldy Road/ Mountain Ave.  Once back in civilization you will head east to Etiwanda on a residential out-and-back segment.  The remainder of the ride is spent traveling the usual bike routes in the San Gabriel Valley to work your way back to La Canada.

This brevet will have a staffed control at Mt Baldy Village (mile 49), but other than that each rider is responsible for finding their own water and food along the route.  There is no place to get water on GMR/GRR until you get to Baldy Village, so if it's a hot day you may want to bring a camelback or an extra water bottle.  There is no SAG vehicle.
