A beautiful ride that begins in the desert town of Twentynine Palms, heads west to the City of Joshua Tree and northern entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. Continues through the park with amazing views, and at the turnoff to Keys View overlook where the views of adjacent peaks (San Jacinto, etc) are breathtaking. Ride continues through the park to the South entrance (Cottonwood Visitor Center) before exiting on a long descent to Interstate 10. After 5 miles on I-!0 will exit at Chiriaco Summit. Continues on I-10 to the abandoned community of Desert Center, CA. The route heads north on Rice Road (Rte 177) until summits to 29 Palms Highway. At that point its 50 miles west on a mostly well maintained roads all the way to the finish back in 29 Palms. This route was previously used for the Joshua Tree Double Century (thanks Anny Beck) but that event is no longer being held. The climbing is mostly shallow of the alluvial fan sort. The weather can greatly vary from warm, to snow, to wind, so best to keep updated on weather beforehand.

This ride will be supported because there are minimal services out on the course.  Riders should expect 3 or 4 staffed controls and a sweep vehicle.  Food will also be provided at the finish.

There is a $15 fee to enter Joshua Tree NP on a bicycle.  Riders with an America the Beautiful Senior Pass can get in free, and they can bring in 3 accompanying cyclists.
