South corner of Mountain Trail and Mountain Meadows Drive.
    $10.00

Note:  You must register in advance to ride, there is no day-of-event registration.  Registration closes at noon on Friday before the ride.

This is a ride to Santa Barbara and back, starting in Moorpark.  In the morning you will leave Moorpark heading north through the citrus farms and ranches of "The Ridge".  A steep descent on Balcolm Canyon (make sure your brakes are good) takes you toward Santa Paula.  From there you will work your way west to Ventura and the coast.  The turn around is at the harbor in Santa Barbara, where hopefully you will pick up a tailwind for the return leg.  The return to Moorpark is similar to the Santa Barbara Easy route, going through Oxnard and Camarillo and climbing Santa Rosa Rd.  There is about 3700 feet of total climbing in this ride, a lot of it in the first 10 miles.

This is a minimally supported ride. Riders are responsible for obtaining their own food and water on the course.  There is no SAG vehicle.

This is a 100k loop from Moorpark.  It meanders through the citrus groves near South Mountain, drops onto the flats of the Oxnard Plain, and returns to Moorpark via the Pleasant and Santa Rosa Valleys.

This populaire kicks off our Summer Rouleur Series.  To earn the Rouleur Award you need to do populaires with lengths of 100k, 125k, and 150k; plus a 200k brevet and a Dart populaire (we'll have a Dart in November).  If you do all these rides in the same year you can earn this spiffy patch from RUSA:

This 200k brevet will be run as an audax-style brevet, and it will be sanctioned by UAF ( l’Union des Audax Français).  This is PCH Randos' first experiment with an audax brevet- it should be a lot of fun to try this out.

Audax brevets are group rides- all riders start together, ride together, and finish together. Riders are never alone, the effort is constant, and controls are for rest rather than validating passage along the route. In addition to riding together, riders on audax brevets stop at controls together and have a sit-down meal together at lunch.

Audax is characterized by a common riding pace of 22.5kph (14mph) with stops of fixed duration (~15min. per 40-60km; 45-90 min. for sit-down meals).  Riding willfully outside the peloton is forbidden and the peloton is led by organizer-appointed “route captains.” Route captains set the pace, navigate, and maintain the good order of the ride.  So if you like the idea of riding with your fellow randos for the whole ride, audax style is for you.  But if you are the type of rider who likes to take off from the front and go your own pace, audax is probably not a good fit for you.

The course begins in Pasadena and utilizes the SART, the SGRT and the Rio Hondo Trail.  It also does the loop around the Newport Back Bay.  It is relatively flat, with only a few climbs.

The Lazy Acres 100K Populaire is a scenic out and back coastal route from the west end of Ventura to Lazy Acres Market in Santa Barbara. The first 13 and last 13 miles of the route is on Old PCH on the shoreline. In Carpinteria, there is a rolly jaunt along the foothills then on to Summerland, Montecito and up Cabrillo Blvd in Santa Barbara. If you missed anything on the way up, you can see most of it again on the return. The course, barring coastal fog, has views of the Channel Islands off the coast of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. The coast is usually very mild, with lows in the 50’s, and highs in the 70’s.

This populaire is the first ride in our Summer Rouleur Series.  To earn the Rouleur Award you need to do populaires with lengths of 100k, 125k, and 150k; plus a 200k brevet and a Dart populaire (we'll have a Dart in November).  If you do all these rides in the same year you can earn this spiffy patch from RUSA:

The Channel Islands 200K has 2 main portions. The first part is a big loop around the Oxnard Plain.  It is worth stopping at the control at Somis Market where a great Mexican breakfast can be had.  On the return to Ventura you will pass within a block of the start, so you can visit your car to drop off or pick up clothing if you choose.

The second half of the ride is an out and back along the coast to Santa Barbara Harbor. The only obstacle may be the headwind on the way to Santa Barbara. The same headwind is a welcome tailwind on the way back to Ventura.  The course, barring coastal fog, has views of the Channel Islands off the coast of Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. The coast is usually very mild, with lows in the 50’s, and highs in the 70’s.
