This is a 126km Populaire created for the Rouleur Award series.  The route is an out-and back between Pasadena and Rancho Cucamonga that parallels, or is actually on, historic Route 66.  Most of the riding is through pleasant San Gabriel Valley neighborhoods.  The finish is now at Hook Burgers so that we can enjoy burgers and beer with our fellow randos.

This is an unsupported ride.  Riders are responsible for obtaining their own food and water on the course.  There are many parks and convenience stores along the way.  There is no SAG.

This is our classic Kendall's Double Bump 200k route, justed shifted so that the start is in Fillmore.   This means that all the significant climbing happens in the first half of the ride.  Highlights of the course include the climb up Highway 150 to Ojai, Casitas Pass, and the beautiful cycling roads of El Toro Canyon and East Mountain Road in the hills above Santa Barbara.  The last half of the ride is the usual coastal route from Santa Barbara to Ventura, then the cruise through the Heritage Valley back to Fillmore.  There is a total of about 6,000 feet climbing, most of it in the first 100k.  There are many great places to grab lunch in Santa Barbara, including the control at Cantwell's market and deli.

This is a minimally supported ride.  Riders are expected to be self-sufficient and obtain their own food and water out on the course.  There is no SAG vehicle.

The route is a challenging loop around the northern half of the Sierra Pelona Mountains, with over 7000 ft of elevation gain, most of it in the first 48 miles. It travels up San Francisquito Canyon, along the San Andreas Fault past the southern half of the Neenach Volcano, across the northern slopes of the Sierra Pelona Mountains, and returns via the historic Old Ridge Route.
The Old Ridge Route has a lot of variation in the road surface, with sand, broken asphalt, rough asphalt, and gravel, as well as perfectly smooth asphalt (esp. near the bottom.) Any bike can get through, but wider tires at lower pressures will make it an easier and more comfortable ride.  This is an adventurous ride that you can use for the 125k category for your Rouleur Award.

This is a minimally supported ride. Riders are responsible for obtaining their own food and water on the course.  There is no SAG vehicle.  The mountains can be warm or cold in Novemver, and are always dry and windy.  After Lake Hughes at about mile 28 there are no services or water for the next 44 miles. It is highly recommended that you carry extra water.

[We were going to run the Baldy Village 127k on this date, but that is no longer possible because GMR and GRR are included in the closure ordered by the National Forest Service after the Bridge Fire].

A pleasant, fairly flat jaunt from Pasadena to the Claremont Colleges.  There is a great coffee stop at Euro Cafe in Claremont.  The ride will end at Handel's Ice Cream (if it's warm) or Hook Burger(if it's cold) so we can celebrate all of our K-Hound Award winners for 2024.

Note: You must register in advance.  Registration closes at 10:00pm two days before the ride - there is no day-of-event registration.  You must be a member of RUSA and PCH Randonneurs to register.

Ride Description- Come join us for the 7th SoCal Winter Solstice Ride.   Get out your thermal tights, decorate your bike with holiday lights, and join a group of other crazies riding through the longest night of the year.  The route is a mostly flat, point-to-point ride from Pasadena to Oceanside.  We start with a little loop of South Pasadena and La Canada, then head over to the San Gabriel River Trail.  The River Trail takes us all the way to Seal Beach, then we'll follow the coastal route to Oceanside.  The start and finish are both at train stations with parking, so it is fairly easy to handle the logistics.

Although the ride is not technically an audax-style ride, riding with others is strongly encouraged, especially on the SGRT at night.  In keeping with the holiday spirit, you are invited to enjoy a midnight meal together at the Harbor House Cafe in Sunset Beach, about 67 miles into the ride.  One of the best things about this ride is seeing all the Christmas lights as we ride through the towns.  You are encouraged to decorate your bike too- you'll be tickled at the positive reactions this elicits from car drivers and pedestrians.

Parking- There is overnight parking available at the Sierra Madre Villa Station and at the Oceanside Station.  If you live in the LA area, you can drive to the SMV Station, or better yet take the A Line train there.  After you finish in Oceanside on Sunday morning, you can take the train (either Amtrak or Metrolink) to Union Station, and then the A Line back to SMV Station.  If you live in the San Diego area, you can park at the Oceanside Station and take the train to the start.

This is an unsupported ride.  Riders will need to obtain their own food and water out on the course.  There is no SAG.

Description: This course is as flat as it gets for an out and back from Moorpark to Santa Barbara Harbor and back to Moorpark. The route is intended to be a fun ride, a good warm up for the randonneuring season.

The initial climb out of Moorpark will help warm the system up for the 8 mile gentle descent down Santa Rosa Road to Camarillo. The route crosses the Oxnard Plain to the coast and at Harbor Blvd. turns north to Ventura. You will then travel Route 1 or Old PCH and the new coastal bike path to Carpinteria. Carpinteria, a busy beach town only 12 miles from SB Harbor, is a great stop for coffee or late breakfast. The route then using surface streets, parallels the 101 Freeway to Summerland and over the Ortega Hill bike path to Montecito. Then navigate the roundabout to Santa Barbara’s majestic and popular Cabrillo Blvd, so keep your eyes alert to the road as it’s easy to be distracted. Sushi Go-Go and On the Alley are good places for bite to eat while looking over the Santa Barbara Harbor with your bike in view as well. The Harbor Market is steps away for those that want to grab and go for a quick turnaround.

Missed something on the way out? You get a chance to see all of it again on the way home, usually with a good tailwind.

This is a minimally supposrted ride.  Riders are responsible for obtaining their own food and water on the course.  There is no SAG vehicle.

This 200km ride follows the Santa Ana River from Huntington Beach to San Bernardino and back. It's a pleasant route along the the river and you are guaranteed to see lots of bird life!
The majority of the ride is on the Santa Ana River Trail, a paved multi-use path, except for the portion between Green River and Norco where the multi-use path has not yet been completed.
Unless the Santa Ana winds are blowing, expect consistent headwinds on the way back!

This is a minimally supposrted ride.  Riders are responsible for obtaining their own food and water on the course.  There is no SAG vehicle.

This is a very popular, fast 300k brevet. We start by heading through Corona to the Santa Ana River Trail and following it all the way to Huntington Beach and the first control. There we head north either on the beach path or PCH (your choice) and then inland on the San Gabriel trail to Las Lomas. This is a 45 mile stretch so stock up on calories. The climb over the Santa Fe dam is scenic if you look to the mountains. At Las Lomas we will forage at the 7-11 control.

Now we back-track for a while until we hop over to the Rio Hondo bike path. There’s a quarter mile stretch of dirt that’s normally rideable, but we can walk it without losing much time. Next we’re on the Los Angeles River trail dealing with headwind for ten miles or so. As we enter the Long Beach marina there are many routes through the area – the important thing is the keep the water somewhere on the right. At Belmont pier we will head inland for a block and choose between many controls such as Chronic Tacos, Jack-in-the-box, Arco, Vons, 7-11, and others.

Then we return to the beach path and follow it a little longer and some quiet(ish) roads until PCH which we follow to Newport Beach. Now we ride more bike paths to one of my favorite controls at Crossroads shopping center in Lake Forest. It’s hard to beat sitting by the illuminated fountain as the light fades while eating Pad Thai. The last section is a mixture of bike paths and quiet roads but contains some climbs – noticeably Pioneer Way and Green River Road. Some riders may find the gate from Lakeview Ave onto the Santa Ana trail locked when they get there. In this case, continue on Lakeview and make the first right onto La Palma. You will rejoin the route 4.5 miles later. This is explained on the cue sheet.

Total distance is 188 miles with 4000ft of climbing. Because it is so flat, has few stop lights or stop signs, and only has four intermediate controls, many riders have completed this route in under 12 hours. Most riders set a personal best on this route. It is ideal for randonneurs attempting their first 300k and for experienced riders looking for a personal best 300k time.

This is a minimally supported ride.  Riders must obtain their own food and water out on the course, but there will be food provided at the finish.  There is no SAG vehicle.

Views of Anacapa has been a popular brevet from years past.  It could be a little chilly at the start but you'll warm up quickly as you climb into the citrus orchards along Grimes and Balcom Canyon roads.  After the first control, a nice section of rollers on Foothill Road brings you into Ventura.  Around mile 37.7 it's time to get on the the Ventura River Bike Trail section for the next 6.2 miles. The next stop is on Santa Ana Road at the Corner Market.  Refuel and stock up here for the climb over Casitas Pass.  It's a steady climb, just be aware of the double summit!  With the majority of the climbing behind you, it's time to enjoy a nice descent into Carpinteria.  Lunch is an open control in Carpinteria.  The next part of the route should have views of blue skies, surf and sand!  A prevailing tailwind should be part of the fun as you down the coast toward Ventura and then toward Port Hueneme.  Another chance to refuel near Port Hueneme before you enjoy a relatively flat ride to the control near Las Posas Road.  You're on your way home now as you enjoy the gentle grade of Santa Rosa Road back to the start.

This is a minimally supported ride.  Riders must obtain their own food and water out on the course.  There is no SAG vehicle.
